Music Educator
Jason A. Spraggins: B. Mus., MAEd.

Jason has a special love for teaching and sharing music with others.  He has taught privately and in the classroom, and he has conducted music theory and sight reading classes for church choirs and instrumentalists. From 2013-2016, he served as the band director and general music teacher for Haywood Middle School in Brownsville, TN.   In August of 2016, Jason became the TN Band Educational Field Representative for Amro Music Stores based in Memphis TN. 

 

Below is an 2009 excerpt from an evaluation by Mrs. Jan Warren,  band director at Madison Academic High School,  to Dr. J. Derek Jones of Lambuth University that details Jason's work as a music teacher:

Let me tell you  that I have never been more excited about a potential teacher than with this guy.  In four days here of  doing his observation, he has impressed me more than the last several student teachers have done.

I gave him some ensembles to work with and one of them played for the class today.  I was pretty nearly blown away, truly.  When I gave them to Jason, they didn't even have a piece picked out, not to mention the fact that they had never played as a quartet before (saxophones).  When they began to play, the class got very quiet and it was soon evident that all our students were impressed with the quality of the performance.  There is NO WAY that this group could have done such a performance on their own, and I certainly had nothing to do with it. This guy will make a great teacher.  Thanks for sending him to me for this part of his training.
